Kevin Hughes is a seasoned Information Technology leader with more than 40 years of hands-on experience spanning engineering, architecture, leadership, training, and enterprise modernization.

Kevin’s career began early, programming in FORTRAN, PASCAL, and COBOL as a teenager and quickly discovering a natural affinity for solving problems through technology. After attending the University of Tennessee and East Tennessee State University, he chose a more challenging path and enlisted in the United States Army. Serving in the Military Intelligence Corps, he worked in signals intelligence across New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Hawaii, ultimately earning his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science while on active duty.

After returning to civilian life, Kevin re-entered the IT profession, contributing to major organizations such as Raytheon and Texas Instruments before launching his first entrepreneurial venture providing in-home computer services and training. His career path later led through East Tennessee State University and into corporate management, where he served as a Sales Manager for Radio Shack in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania—achieving triple-digit growth in sales revenue—before shifting back into technical leadership roles.

Over the last two decades, Kevin has built an exceptionally broad and deep professional portfolio: college instructor, corporate trainer, systems administrator, network engineer, database administrator, business analyst, and enterprise architect.

As CEO of EGenius Group, LLC, he guided market strategy, service differentiation, partnership development, and organizational culture—emphasizing professionalism, customer service excellence, and solutions that genuinely help people and companies be more effective, efficient, and profitable.

Before founding EGenius, he served at Rackspace USA as a Senior Solutions Architect in the SharePoint Professional Services division. There he designed enterprise IT solutions, led project delivery teams, created documentation and governance frameworks, and helped organizations implement more effective communication, collaboration, and information-management practices.

Kevin later joined Waddell & Reed as a Senior Cloud Engineer and Microsoft 365 SME, where he drove major modernization initiatives. His responsibilities included Azure Active Directory, Azure AD Connect, Exchange hybrid migration, identity governance, compliance and retention policies, DLP, endpoint management, Intune, Teams architecture, licensing, ATP, eDiscovery, and the development of cybersecurity policies and operational processes. He also built extensive PowerShell automation for Microsoft 365 and Azure, trained internal IT teams, and provided technical oversight for vendor-led cloud implementations.

Following his work at Waddell & Reed, Kevin joined Macquarie Group as a Manager in the global Collaboration Tools team, supporting one of the most distributed and fast-moving financial organizations in the world. There, he was responsible for the governance, administration, and operational oversight of Macquarie’s enterprise Microsoft 365 environment across regions. His portfolio included ownership of SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, Purview, Defender 365, Entra ID, and the rapidly expanding Copilot and AI-driven collaboration ecosystem. In this role, Kevin developed governance frameworks, interoperability architectures, operational processes, and documentation standards that supported consistent and secure collaboration across business groups. He led major escalations, mentored global engineering staff, and provided technical leadership across multiple units, ensuring that complex issues were resolved efficiently and in alignment with Macquarie’s security, compliance, and operational objectives.

Kevin is married to his wife, Morgaine, and has two adult children—Kevin II and Christine—and one 4-legged family member, Pally, a lively Schipperke. He is a U.S. Army veteran, a 32° Mason, a Shriner, a biker, a business owner, and a committed community member with future political aspirations.

Outside of work, Kevin enjoys motorcycles, golf, cooking, travel, teaching, gaming with family and friends, and occasionally unwinding with long conversations exploring technology, science, or philosophy.
